For our preliminary task, we had to show someone walking into a room, sitting down and having a conversation with someone else. Firstly my group and I storyboarded our ideas. My group and I discussed and shared our ideas of what the scenario was to be in order to make our piece more interesting. We decided for our scenario to be as follows: a brother and sister are in a school or college setting. Previously, they have been arguing with each other via text message and are awaiting a confrontation, to discuss what has been said. The sister is sitting ion the classroom flicking through her text messages when the brother storms in obviously furious. The brother and sister argue and scream at each other, the argument escalates and the brother grabs and goes to hit his sister. At this point an unknown and mysterious man walks through the door and stops the argument. The short film ends as a cliff hanger would as we as audience members are unaware to whom this strange man is. Storyboarding helped my group to determine exactly where we wanted to use match on action, eye line match and also gave us a visual of the 180 degree rule. It was also useful as we were able to plan out dialogue and clever ways to create impact and intensity.
